Carl Savoia

A Columbus, Ohio, native, Carl Savoia moved to California in 1981 and grew up as a San Diego teenager, attending Patrick Henry High School. After high school, Savoia launched his career in the insurance industry. In 1994, he founded Target Insurance Services, a general liability insurance company for construction contractors that serves thousands of contractors a year in California. Twelve years later, Professional Employer Network Inc., an industry-leading human resources solutions firm, was created under Savoia's direction.

Today, he remains focused on Target Insurance Services and the Professional Employer Network while also acting as a principal of Preferred Contractors Insurance Company Risk Retention and Pacific Re Inc., both based in Billings, Mont. While not working on insurance deals or the San Diego Sockers, Savoia can be found traveling the world.

What brought you to Carmel Valley?
I really enjoy the people in the community here. It is classy, clean, peaceful and I love coming home.

I would try to eliminate or make sure that traffic stayed to a minimum.

As a biz partner with Phil Salvagio, I was offered the opportunity and accepted after he learned about it from a former Sockers owner.

Who or what inspires you?
God.

If you hosted a dinner party for eight, whom (living or deceased) would you invite?
Adam, Eve and six other biblical characters.

My children.

What do you do for fun?
I play basketball almost daily, and I love to go out for fine dining and even better wine.

I have helped many friends and family members start their own businesses, and they are successful.

What is your motto or philosophy of life?
Walk in love.

Upcoming Sockers game
