The Canyon Crest Academy Foundation's fifth annual gala benefit "Recipe for Success" will be held April 17 at the San Diego Marriott Del Mar. The event will include fare from Arterra Restaurant, gourmet appetizers and complimentary signature cocktails, a silent and live auction, and entertainment. Proceeds will be used for academy programs, equipment and technology needs.
A live auction will feature student success packages, including behind-the-scenes job experiences in business, science and media; SAT/ACT prep courses; tutoring; essay writing; and college admissions counseling packages from High Bluff Academy, EDvantage Consulting, Revolution Prep, and Eureka Review.
Additional, one-of-a-kind items include an electric guitar autographed by Rolling Stones musicians Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Ronnie Wood; a Del Mar beach sunset soiree for 20; and a Maui oceanfront vacation for four. World history teacher Timothy Stiven is offering the ultimate "American Culture" lecture tour to Disneyland Park and Disney's California Adventure for four students.
Patrons can donate to the campus-wide technology initiative that will exchange outdated equipment with state-of-the-art computers and software in multiple disciplines to enhance students' academic and artistic pursuits.
CCA "power moms" and gala emcees, Andrea Naversen, editor-at-large at Ranch & Coast magazine, and radio celebrity Susan DeVincent, host of the KyXy 96.5 Morning Show, will infuse humor and school spirit into the evening's festivities. Auctioneer Mike Hogan and DJ Scot Feld of XTF DJ will offer "a full course of entertainment."
There are corporate sponsorships and underwriting packages through Eileen Silverman at silverme@sbcglobal.net. Gala tickets are $150 per person at www.canyoncrestacademyfoundation.org.
