Winston School talent show is a hit with students

The Winston School in Del Mar recently held its annual talent show.

Headmaster Mike Peterson said the show has become a highly anticipated event for students, teachers and parents.

This year, 21 students (that's 20 percent of the student body) participated. Fifteen acts featured the students (and occasionally one of the teachers, much to the students' entertainment) and included bands, skits, songs and dances. Material included Radiohead's "Creep," "Fireflies" by Owl City, and "Defying Gravity" from the Broadway musical "Wicked."

The Winston School (www.winstonschool.com) is a college preparatory program for bright, creative students in grades 4 through 12 who have struggled to meet their potential. The school offers an extensive arts curriculum providing classic training and a creative outlet, as well as opportunities to build character and self-confidence. The talent show is an extension and celebration of this focus.
