Here's an opportunity for people to really step up for a good cause. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is hosting Climb for the Cure in downtown San Diego on Dec. 12. For three hours, participants will put their endurance to the test while racing up the Columbia Center's 50 flights of stairs. Each participant will gather pledges for every flight of stairs they scale. Leisure climbers can also participate by making a symbolic climb to the top of the building.
After the climb, there will be a Survivor's Party with live music, food and beer sampling from local restaurants and breweries such as Stone Brewing, Coronado Brewing Co. and BJ's Brewhouse. There will also be professional massagers for those aching legs and a root beer bar for the children.
Last year's climbers scaled more than 7,600 steps and raised more than $6,000.
