The Max's Ring of Fire organization is hosting Max's Holiday Garage Sale, an online auction fundraiser through the eBay Giving Works program.
Max's Ring of Fire is an organization founded in honor of Max Mikulak, a Carmel Valley child who died of neuroblastoma, a form of pediatric cancer, in 2008 at the age of 7.
There are 40 items currently up for bid on MaxsGarageSale.com and more will be added. Most items are from local businesses like dinner and a concert at the Belly Up Tavern, a gift certificate for Brio Hair Salon in Del Mar and dinner at Milton's in Flower Hill. There are also surf lessons, museum passes, spa treatments and wine tastings.
Visit the site now through the end of the year to bid. All proceeds from will go toward supporting research to find a cure for neuroblastoma.
Funds raised will stay in San Diego for research at the UCSD Moores Cancer Center. Recently, Atlanta's Dr. Don Durden arrived to UCSD to head up the first clinical research program on pediatric oncology. Previously all the science generated in San Diego had to go somewhere else to be turned into a clinical trial. Durden will help accelerate findings from the lab to make them into cutting-edge therapies for children battling the deadliest cancers.
