The Lady Falcons basketball team finished third in the Kiwanis Tournament on Dec. 19 after beating Chaparral, 70-46.
La Costa took the title, defeating James Logan, 59-36, and Rancho Bernardo came in second with a 41-30 victory over Mission Bay.
Heather Serven scored 23 points in a 65-52 loss to James Logan and 28 points in the match against Chaparral, to lead the Falcons. She was named to the All Tournament Team.
The Falcons team flew through round two of the Kiwanis event with a 63-35 win over the Scripps Ranch Falcons. The defense came alive in the Scripps game, holding their opponents to only 2 points in the first quarter. It was the second win over Scripps in less than a week.
Serven led the Falcons with 28 points, going 9-9 from the free throw line, while Sarah Lawrence dished out 6 assists and finished the game with 15.
Megan McClurg and Fantine Giap both played intense defense and were able to get three steals apiece and finished with 10 and 4 points, respectively. The Falcons were 7-4 as they moved into the next round.
The victory came on the heels of a Dec. 16 tournament win over Morse, 64-39.
Morse and Torrey Pines had already faced each other on Dec. 8 in the Matador Classic, where the Falcons came out on top with an impressive 85-48 win.
