San Diego Derby Dolls deliver toys

The San Diego Derby Dolls, in team uniform and on roller skates, met Rady Children's Hospital nurses and management at the fountain in front of the hospital on Dec. 23 to deliver over 200 toys that the team collected during their toy drive.

SDDD's Dixie Ammunition explains that the team "has hundreds of fans and people that help us out, and we can't just take all that and keep it all for ourselves. The community gives to us, so we decided to turn around and give right back to them."

Toy bins were filled by SDDD skaters at team practices and by SDDD fans at a Nov. 21 and a Dec. 12 game at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. For Rady's to achieve their goal they rely on the support of donors and volunteers, and have for over 50 years.

The team has a tentative event scheduled at the hospital in the spring where SDDD will skate for the young patients, giving them their own private show and an opportunity to meet the team's skaters.
