San Diego County gasoline price rises

The average price of self-serve unleaded regular gasoline in San Diego County rose three-tenths of a cent per gallon Thursday to $2.102, 2 cents more than last week.

The average price is 27.1 cents more than a month ago, but $1.003 less than at this time last year and $2.528 less than the record high of $4.63 set on June 19, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

The national average price of unleaded self-serve regular gasoline rose one-tenth of a cent per gallon today to $1.843, seven-tenths of a cent less than a week ago, 22.7 cents more than last month, $1.14 less than this time last year and $2.271 less than the record high of $4.114 set July 17.

California's gasoline prices are typically higher than the national average and among the highest in the nation because of taxes and a state law mandating a special blend of fuel to reduce polluting emissions.
