Summer concerts kick off

The Carmel Valley Summer Serenades Concert Series returns this weekend with a performance by The Shockwaves from 5 to 7 p.m. July 12 at Solana Highlands Park. The Shockwaves, formerly known as Left for Dead, play rock 'n' roll from the 1960s through today.

People are encouraged to bring a blanket or low beach chairs to enjoy the show. Carmel Valley Recreation Center will present three more concerts throughout the summer, all sponsored by Pardee Homes.

The lineup

  • July 19: The Corvettes, best of the 1950s and 1960s, will play at Sage Canyon Park, 5 to 7 p.m.
  • July 26: Atomic Groove, variety dance band, will play at Solana Highlands Park, 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Aug. 2: Upstream, a reggae band, will play at Sage Canyon Park, 5 to 7 p.m.
