On May 31, children took the wheels of all kinds of rigs and liberally honked the horns at the Touch a Truck charity event.
The event, held at Canyon Crest Academy, supported Max's Ring of Fire and raised about $10,000 for pediatric cancer research. Max's Ring of Fire was founded in memory of Max Mikulak, a 7-year-old Carmel Valley boy who died of nueroblastoma last August.
The event featured trucks of all kinds for children to explore as clone troopers roamed the parking lot. Max was a big "Star Wars" fan.
Max's Ring of Fire's next big event will be for the adults. Maxapalooza will be held in a hangar at the McClellan-Palomar Airport on Sept. 26 with low riders, jets, skateboard demonstrations, live music and more. To learn more, visit
