The Book Works raises funds for KPBS at event

On June 8, The Book Works in Del Mar celebrated an evening with author Luis Alberto Urrea to raise funds for the KPBS Border Desk. More than 200 people attended event.

The evening began with a silent auction and live music by Carmel Valley's Chase Morrin. Then in the Morrison Hotel Gallery, border reporter Amy Isackson talked about plans for full-time media coverage at the border and Urrea read from his new novel, "Into the Beautiful North," which is the story of a young woman's quest to find herself on both sides of the border.
