Curious about crustaceans and the tastiest ways of preparing such favorites as King Crab, Dungeness crab, spiny lobsters and Maine lobsters? Then head for The Fish Market Del Mar at 2 p.m. Nov. 24.
Seafood experts from the restaurant/market at 640 Via de la Valle, across from the Del Mar Fairgrounds. will hold an informal free seminar which is open to the public.
"We'll give a bit of history about each of these creatures and offer some valuable tips on preparing them at home," said Scott Ambrose, vice president of operations.
All aforementioned crustaceans are in season and available for sale at the Retail Market, which also specializes in freshly caught seafood and smoked delicacies. It's open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
To attend the seminar and stay for a meal, there will be an "Early Catch" menu in the dining room featuring selected entrees for $12. All include sourdough bread and choice of clam chowder, tossed field greens salad or Caesar salad.
