Francine Busby promises to lend an ear

BY FRANCINE BUSBY

Imagine greeting your congresswoman by first name when you run into me at your park, school, business, office or farmers market. Then picture me actually listening to your concerns.

That's the type of representative I will be. From your house to the People's House, I will deliver door-to-door public service.

My years of community service have taught me a great deal about the people of this beautiful district. My family, like yours, works hard, values education, loves this country and wants our hard-earned tax dollars invested back into our communities. Watching billions of dollars doled out in corporate subsidies, while our "leaders" make excuses for denying Americans affordable education and healthcare is unacceptable. It is time to end the political double-speak and fear-mongering that insults us all.

We don't have to put up with this. I am practical, honest, hard-working and politically savvy. We don't need another ideologue politician or recycled lobbyist selling us a skewed bill of goods. We need health care for all citizens, education, jobs and essential services that good governments provide.

I have been a strong and consistent voice for common sense. I first challenged Randy "Duke" Cunningham in 2004. I continue to advocate for health care reform to escape the bondage of greedy insurance companies and for quality education because it is one of the smartest investments we can make. I believe in America's ingenuity and innovation to produce a cleaner, healthier, sustainable lifestyle and environment for San Diegans.

I envision San Diego at the forefront of a revitalized economy based on science, innovation and technology. In pursuing a spot on the Energy and Commerce Committee I will serve our high tech, bio-tech and green tech enterprises perfectly.

Francine Busby is a Democratic candidate for the 50th Congressional District seat.
