Sidney's Candy leads the way at Santa Anita

Sidney's Candy, owned by local resident Jenny Craig, raced to an early lead and never looked back as he cruised home to a 4 1/2-length win in the Grade I Santa Anita Derby on April 3.

Ridden by Joe Talamo, the flashy chestnut covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:48.

Setsuko finished second, while favorite Lookin At Lucky, owned by Del Mar part-timer Mike Pegram, had a troubled trip but still managed to get up for third. After the race, Lookin At Lucky's jockey, Garrett Gomez, had a widely publicized fight with jockey Victor Espinoza, who rode Who's Up, over rough race riding.

According to a Santa Anita news release, Sidney's Candy and Lookin At Lucky are bound for the May 1 Kentucky Derby.
