Solana Beach veterinarian featured in calendar

When Dr. Tamara Hebbler received a phone call from a friend asking her to pose for a calendar to raise funds for the Center for Integrative Veterinary Care, she surely thought she would be wearing all of her clothes. But, that was not necessarily the case for the latest edition of the Dr. Showmore Calendar.

“At first I balked,” says Hebbler, of the holistic practice Healing Hope in Solana Beach. “But then I realized this could be a fun way to raise money and get our message out there.”

The message is awareness of integrative veterinary care for pets. “We take the best from both Conventional and Holistic Medicine and treat the whole patient – mind, body and soul,” says Dr. Margo Roman, creator of the Dr. ShowMore Calendar. “The calendar illustrates the joyous relationship between people and pets and the special bond we as healthcare providers share with them.”

Based upon the “Calendar Girls” theme, the veterinarians, like their animal friends, are au natural. Each month presents a humorous photo of a domestic animal along with their loosely clad caretaker. The photos are in good taste and reflect the natural side of medicine, according to Dr. Hebbler.

Each page also contains in-depth information about different integrative medical modalities in animal care. For example, Dr. Hebbler’s month, December, speaks to the importance of vaccination and unnecessary practice of re-vaccination.

All proceeds from the Dr. Showmore calendar will support the Center for Integrative Veterinary Care for student scholarships and the production of an educational documentary. They are available at Healing Hope in Solana Beach or at

California, not surprisingly, leads the nation in number of holistic veterinary practices and 104 are members of the American Holistic Veterinary Medicine Association.
