'Coaster Crawl' marks 15th anniversary

The Coaster turns 15 on Saturday, and local merchants are joining the North County Transit District to celebrate.

The "Coaster Crawl" is set for Saturday along the commuter train's coastal route between Solana Beach and Oceanside. A special two-for-one price is offered Saturday only. The offer also includes free admission to the California Surf Museum in Oceanside and other discounts at participating businesses within walking distance of Coaster stations.

NCTD has partnered with local merchant organizations to offer entertainment and events at the stations along the route, including dueling guitarists at the Oceanside Transit Center and a small-scale farmer's market at the Carlsbad Village station.

Merchants in the downtown areas of the Coaster host cities will also offer special promotions for riders.

Participants include Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Encinitas MainStreet Association, Leucadia-Encinitas Highway 101 MainStreet Association, the Carlsbad Village Association, MainStreet Oceanside and the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce.
