Several area athletic teams will be honored for academic performance on June 8.
The CIF San Diego Section announced May 25 that the San Diego Jewish Academy's baseball team (3.70 cumulative GPA), Torrey Pines boys track and field team (3.53), Cathedral Catholic's girls track and field team (3.67) and Canyon Crest Academy's boys volleyball team (3.67) were among the schools recognized for "effort in academic success and earning the highest unweighted grade point average by all members of the team."
Francis Parker's boys golf team (3.64) was also honored.
The news release recognized the players as well as the faculty, staff and coaches for the achievement. Teams will be nominated for state recognition.
San Dieguito Academy, La Jolla Country Day and Pacific Ridge were also considered, the release noted.
