Sheriff's deputies cracked down on booze at the beach from Encinitas to Del Mar over the Memorial Day weekend, making 16 arrests overnight on Saturday night alone.
Deputies worked in uniform and undercover alongside state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control agents in the coastal towns, including Solana Beach, from 8 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m., Deputy Dave Perkins said.
Perkins said 14 people were arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and two more for allegedly possessing marijuana. Deputies issued 10 citations for drinking and urinating in public and other code violations.
