***** Santa Fe Christian lost to Bishop’s of La Jolla 31-10 in a Coastal League North opener for both teams on Oct. 16. Quarterback Connor Moore led the Eagles offensively, rushing for 107 yards on 10 carries and completing five of seven pass attempts for 64 yards with no interceptions. The Eagles fell to 0-1 in league and 3-4 overall for the season.
***** San Diego Jewish Academy lost to Calvin Christian of Escondido 49-0 in a Southern game on Oct. 14. Bruno Garcia-Jed’s solid play on both sides of the ball was among the few bright spots for the Lions on a day when they had difficulty getting anything going against a tough opponent. Garcia-Jed rushed for 44 yards on seven carries and caught three passes for 55 yards. He was a force defensively too for SDJA, contributing six tackles. Quarterback Micah Weinstein completed five of 16 attempts for 82 yards with two interceptions. Kevin Yedid-Botton led the Lions with 12 tackles, and Brad Trodonsky added 10 tackles. The Lions fell to 0-1-1 in league and 1-2-1 overall for the season. Water polo: Torrey Pines defeated Poway 13-10 in a Palomar League game on Oct. 15. Denis Vaisberg and Patrick Lenihan each scored four goals to lead the Falcons. Falcons goalie Layne Moore had 10 saves. Vaisberg also led the Falcons with three assists. The Falcons improved to 4-1 in league and 10-7 overall for the season. Santa Fe Christian defeated La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad 11-9 in a Coastal League North game on Oct. 14. Austen Leftwick, Tyler Anthony and Angus Walker each scored three goals to lead the Eagles, who improved to 2-1 in league and 3-3 overall for the season. Field hockey: Torrey Pines defeated Rancho Buena Vista 3-0 in a Palomar League game on Oct. 15. Lucy Busby scored two goals to lead the Falcons and goalie Heather Schleisher had eight saves.
***** Canyon Crest Academy defeated Mt. Carmel 2-0 in a Valley League game on Oct. 14. Kate Chamberlain and Jodie Heisel each scored one goal for the Ravens, and goalie Clara Belitlz had four saves. The Ravens improved to 4-1 in league and 11-5 overall for the season. Tennis: Torrey Pines remained unbeaten as the Falcons defeated Poway 15-3 in a Palomar League match on Oct. 14. No 1 singles player Tory Parravi went a combined 12-0 in two sets and No. 2 and No. 3 singles players Holly Varner and Marion Boullin went a combined 36-2. The Falcons improved to 7-0 in league and 11-0 overall for the season.

The Ravens dominated doubles play, going a combined 9-0, with their No. 3 team of Sophie Warner and Vanessa Csordas-Jenkins going unbeaten in 18 games. The Ravens improved to 5-0 in league and 11-0 overall for the season.

The Eagles No. 2 doubles team of Taylor Kenyon and Ashleigh Stidham won all three sets going a combined 18-3. Golf: Torrey Pines defeated Rancho Bernardo 192-230 in a Palomar League match on Oct. 14. Jennifer Peng shot a 1-over-par- 37 to lead the Falcons and Jenny Liang contributed a 38 score on a nine-hole course at Loma Santa Fe Country Club. The Falcons improved to 7-0 in league and 21-0 overall for the season. Volleyball: Canyon Crest Academy defeated Valley Center 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-15) in Valley League game on Oct. 14. Avery Anton and Aline Valiengo each had 10 kills to lead the Ravens and setter Kyanna Miller had 26 assists. The Ravens improved to 3-0 in league and 21-2 overall for the season.
