GIVE N GO, an organization that provides underprivileged children with donated soccer equipment and hosts clinics, announced recently it will partner with San Diego Surf Cup and collect gear at this year’s tournament.
The non-profit will gather items, including cleats, balls, uniforms and more at the event and redistribute the gear to Olive Crest Children’s Home for a soccer clinic scheduled in August.
“Once we collect the equipment, we travel to orphanages in developing countries and foster homes in underserved areas in the U.S. and redistribute the donated gear and conduct soccer clinics with the kids,” said Amber Tollefson, Founder of GIVE N GO. “We believe this game can unite children who never had a soccer mom, dad or the resources that many of us had growing up. That’s why it’s important that we do our part to provide relief, spread hope and joy through the game of soccer.”
In addition, the organization will host a raffle and auction prizes that include two tickets to “Conan” and more.
“Surf Cup is one of the largest competitive tournaments in the country and we’re hoping to raise awareness with not only people in Southern California, but with participating teams from around the country,” said Tori Jensen, Director of Health Administration at GIVE N NO. “When we give kids a soccer ball or jersey, the look on their face is so rewarding. We want to create a family and team atmosphere for children who don’t have families and use the sport as a vehicle to develop healthy lifestyles, empower children and increase participation!”
Both Tollefson and Jensen played collegiate soccer at Florida State University together. During their tenure, the Florida State soccer team went to two Sweet Sixteen’s, an Elite 8 and the program’s first ever Final Four College Cup.
GIVE N GO will collect donations at its booth (West of the Nike store on vendor row) this weekend and next weekend from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Surf Cup located at 3884 Via de la Valle, Del Mar, Calif. 92014.
