Flutist Daniel Lee at the Carmel Valley Library on Aug. 15

August’s free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be presented on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. in the library’s community room. It will feature flutist Daniel Lee performing works by Mozart, Gluck, Henri Dutilleux, and Gounod.  He will be accompanied by pianist Yuju Jung. The program will last 45 minutes.

Daniel Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea and came here at the age of 9. He attended the Coronado School of the Arts in Coronado and then was a full scholarship student at the German State School of Music “Carl Maria von Weber” in Dresden, Germany where he received a bachelor of music and performance doctorate. There he was principal flute with the Hfm Orchester and Junge Munchener Symphoniker, and has performed as a solo recitalist in Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, South Korea, and United States. He and his wife Yuju Jung now live in La Jolla where they have a music studio.

Yuju Jung was also born in South Korean and was a full scholarship student at the German State School of Music “Carl Maria von Weber” in Dresden, Germany. She has given recitals in Germany, Poland, and South Korea and won several competitions in South Korea.
