Solana Beach Deputy Mayor Dave Roberts officially announced Jan. 10 that he has filed the required forms to enter his candidacy for the county Board of Supervisors, Third District.
The primary for this election is June 5, 2012.
“These are challenging times, which makes a candidate’s background more important than ever,” Roberts said. “I am running for county supervisor because I have extensive business experience, a proven track record of success, and a vision for our county over the next decade.”
Roberts stressed that he has the background necessary to create jobs and promote economic growth. He said he plans to continue the fiscal responsibility demonstrated by the Board of Supervisors, while working to enhance services to the public.
“It is important to deliver critical county services in the most cost-effective manner possible,” Roberts said. “I have the business background to do this. I am a self-starter; I worked to put myself through college and graduate school. I have started my own successful business and was part of an efficient team that helped to build SAIC into a Fortune 500 Company.”
Roberts said as supervisor it is important to him to:
- Improve economic opportunities in San Diego County.
- Insist on a structurally sound county budget while working to efficiently conduct county business by balancing the budget and preparing for cuts in state funding.
- Preserve the county’s strong financial and capital management to maintain a top bond rating.
- Enhance the quality of life of all county residents through sustainable grown, well-planned communities, environmental protection and strong public safety.
- Improve county services and delivery to the public.
