Boys basketball:

From one day to the next it is a different player who steps up to lead Cathedral Catholic’s scoring efforts.

And it doesn’t seem to matter much who it is that happens to carry the bulk of the load on any given day.

The storyline remains the same, and that’s good news for the Dons, who extended their winning streak to nine games with a resounding 68-27 Western League victory over Mission Bay on Jan. 18.

Xavier Williams scored 19 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Dons in the Mission Bay game.

Michael Rosenburg added 11 points and Niksha Federico added 10 points.

In the Lincoln game, Nick Prunty led the Dons with 31 points.

Brandon Michel added 17 points and Williams and Federico contributed 16 and 15 points, respectively.

The Dons improved to 5-0 in league and 17-2 overall for the season.

Torrey Pines split its first two Palomar League games.

The Falcons defeated Westview 61-49 in a league opener for both teams on Jan. 16, but they lost to Mt. Carmel 61-53 two days later.

Sam Worman scored 13 points to lead the Falcons in the Mt. Carmel game and Jack Beach added 10 points.

The Falcons fell to 11-7 overall for the season.

Santa Fe Christian defeated La Jolla Country Day 70-43 in a Coastal League game on Jan. 18.

Grant Corsi scored 23 points to lead the Eagles and Justin Byrd added 18 points. Brian Finley contributed 11 points.

The victory followed a 34-33 league loss to Francis Parker three days earlier in which Corsi led the Eagles with 13 points.

The Eagles improved to 2-1 in league and 12-5 overall for the season.

San Diego Jewish Academy lost to Rock Academy 54-38 in a Pacific League game on Jan. 17.

Judah Rosenzweig scored 18 points to lead the Lions and Ilan Graubart added 10 points.
