Baseball:

Cathedral Catholic defeated Madison 4-1 in a City Conference tournament game on March 21.

The Dons improved to 3-0 in the tournament as they won their fourth straight game overall.

The Dons opened the tournament with a 9-1 victory over Mission Bay on March 18 and defeated University City 4-2 the next day.

Stephen Gonsalves struck out six batters and allowed one run on three hits and two walks in six innings of three-hit ball.

Gonsalves had two hits and Brady Aiken drove in two runs and had one hit to lead the Dons offensively.

Michael Martin and Alex Schick combined for nine strikeouts to lead the Dons in the Mission Bay game.

Schick, who relieved Martin in the fifth inning, struck out six batters and allowed no walks in three shutout innings of no-hit ball.

Aiken led the Dons offensively with two hits and two runs scored.

Simpson had three hits and two RBI to lead the Dons in the University City game and Sean Bouchard added two hits.

The Dons improved their overall record for the season to 7-1.


Torrey Pines defeated Santa Fe Christian 2-0 in a North County Conference game on March 22.

The victory followed a 4-0 win against Fallbrook two days earlier in the same tournament.

Henry Grow pitched a three-hit shutout to lead the Falcons in the SFC game.

Grow struck out five batters and allowed no walks.

Rob Simsiman had two RBI to lead the Falcons offensively.

Nolan Weinberg tossed a six-hit shutout to lead the Falcons in the Fallbrook game.

John Remick had two hits including a home run to lead the Falcons offensively.

The Falcons improved to 4-4 overall for the season.


Canyon Crest Academy lost to Mission Hills 4-3 in a nonleague game on March 20.

Jack Kaloogian hit a two run homer to lead the Ravens offensively and Nathan Landers and Sameer Jafri each contributed two hits.

Ravens starting pitcher Dylan Gargas, who wasn’t involved in the decision, struck out three batters and allowed three runs on eight hits and no walks in five innings.

The Ravens fell to 2-6 overall for the season.

Softball:

Torrey Pines defeated El Camino 8-0 in a North County tournament game on March 21.

The victory followed a 2-1 loss to Escondido two days earlier in the same tournament.

Rachel Nasland struck out 10 batters and allowed no walks in a two-hit shutout to lead the Falcons.

Kelsey Buchanan and Emily Wolking each had two hits to lead the Falcons offensively and Kaitlin Schreiber added two RBI and one hit.

Emma Wong and Mikaila Reyes each had two hits to lead the Falcons in the Escondido game.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 5-4-2.

Girls lacrosse:

Cathedral Catholic defeated Canyon Crest Academy 10-8 in a Western League game on March 19.

Kira Williamson scored four goals to lead the Dons and Chelsea Mapes added three goals.


CCA trounced Hilltop 15-2 in a nonleague game on March 22.
