A Torrey Pines team that struggled early on is finishing the season strong.
The Falcons, who at one point lost nine straight games during a stretch that included losing their first three Palomar League games, have moved near the top of the league standings thanks to a late-season surge.
Torrey Pines concluded a three-game sweep of Canyon Crest Academy with a 3-2 league win on May 11. The win moved the Falcons into a two-way tie for second place with Westview.
The Falcons opened the series with a 1-0 win over CCA on May 7 and beat the Ravens 12-5 two days later.
Henry Grow pitched a five-hit shutout to lead the Falcons in the series opener. He struck out two batters and allowed four walks.
Chad Thurston led the Falcons with two doubles and Jake Cline drove in the game’s only run.
John Remick had two hits and three RBI to lead the Falcons in the second game.
Pete Mitchell contributed three hits and scored two runs and Mark Detrow had two hits including a double and scored three runs.
Remick, Thurston and Jackson Gentes each had three hits to lead the Falcons in the series finale.
Riley Adams and Nathan Landers each had two hits in defeat for the Ravens.
The Falcons improved to 8-6 in league and 13-6 overall for the season.
The Ravens fell to 5-9 in league and 10-18 overall for the season.
Cathedral Catholic swept a two-game Eastern League series from Scripps Ranch.
The Dons won the first game 7-5 on May 7 and the second game 6-1 two days later.
Giovanni Garbella had three hits including a triple and two RBI to lead the Dons in the first game.
Andrew Wilson contributed one hit and scored two runs and Brady Aiken added a double, and a sacrifice.
Aiken allowed one run in five innings of two-hit ball for the win in the second game. He struck out eight batters and allowed three walks.
Connor Larkin had two hits including a triple and three RBI to lead the Dons offensively.
Michael Martin added three hits including a double, and Wilson and Nick Prunty each contributed two hits including a double and one RBI.
The Dons improved to 7-3 in league and 19-7 overall for the season.
Santa Fe Christian defeated Escondido Charter 3-2 in a nonleague game on May 11.
Carter Roberts pitched a five-hitter for the win. He struck out four batters and allowed two runs and one walk.
John Gamble and Tyler Ledbetter each added two hits to lead the Eagles offensively.
The victory followed a two-game Coastal League South series split with Horizon earlier in the week.
The Eagles won the first game 2-1 on May 8 but lost the second game 5-3 the next day.
Dillon Paulson pitched a complete game four-hitter to lead the Eagles in the first game. He struck out three batters and allowed no walks.
Paulson also led the Eagles offensively with two hits and two RBI.
Will Finnerty had two hits (both doubles) and two RBI and Ledbetter contributed two hits including a double in defeat for the Eagles in the second game.
The Eagles improved to 5-5 in league and 14-13 overall for the season.

The victory followed a 4-1 league win against Poway two days earlier.

Cathedral Catholic closed out its Western League championship season with a resounding 11-1 victory over Madison on May 9.
Jessica Alexander had four hits including a home run and a double and drove in four runs to lead the Dons.
Hannah Gilliland contributed three hits including a double and Sarai Niu hit a home run and drove in two runs.
The Dons improved to 11-1 in league and 19-9-1 overall for the season.
