Cathedral Catholic extended its winning streak to 11 games as the Dons opened Western League play with a 7-2 victory over Patrick Henry on April 9.

The victory followed a 7-4 nonleague win against Mater Dei Catholic two days earlier.

Will Law had three hits including a home run and a double and drove in four runs to lead the Dons in the Patrick Henry game.

Brady Aiken, who was credited with the win, struck out eight batters and allowed two runs on six hits and one walk in 5 1/3 innings.

Sean Bouchard had two hits including a triple and Law hit a home run and drove in two runs to lead the Dons against Mater Dei Catholic.

Connor Lunn, who was credited with the win, struck out six batters and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks in four innings.

Giovanni Garbella and Andrew Wilson each added two hits.

The Dons improved their overall record for the season to 13-1.

Santa Fe Christian defeated Escondido Charter 11-0 in a nonleague game on April 10 for its sixth straight win.

The victory followed a 2-1 win against Calvary Christian two days earlier in a game that went eight innings.

The Eagles have allowed just four runs over their last six games.

Cole Weaver had a double, a triple and four RBI and Chase Bushor had three hits and scored three runs to lead the Eagles in the Escondido Charter game.

Gary Saggese, who was credited with the win, combined with Tyler Stephens and Brian Finley on a five-hitter. Saggese struck out three batters and allowed three hits and two walks in four innings.

Bushor scored both Eagles runs in the Calvary Christian game.

The Eagles trailed 1-0 in the sixth inning when he went from first to third on Cole Weaver’s sacrifice bunt and scored the tying run on Dillon Paulson’s sacrifice fly.

Bushor singled leading off the eighth and scored the game winner when Brian Blatnick drew a bases-loaded walk.

Cole Acosta, who was credited with the win, struck out five batters and allowed one run on three hits and one walk.

Acosta relieved Paulson, who pitched four shutout innings of three-hit ball.

The Eagles improved their overall record for the season to 10-4.

Canyon Crest Academy took two of three games from Westview to kick off Palomar League play.

Nathan Landers had three hits and Tommy Kuznia contributed one hit and two RBI to lead the Ravens to a 3-1 win in the series opener on April 7.

Kuznia had three hits including a double, drove in three runs and scored four runs to lead the Ravens in a 14-8 win two days later.

The Ravens lost 5-4 in the series finale on April 11.

The Ravens improved to 2-1 in league in 6-7 overall for the season.

Torrey Pines was swept by Rancho Bernardo in a three-game series that kicked off the Falcons’ Palomar League season.
