Softball:

Cathedral Catholic defeated Patrick Henry 6-2 in the championship game of the Cougar Classic tournament’s Platinum Division on March 17.

Tierra Falo led the Dons offensively with a home run, a double and three RBI, and Hannah Gilliland added two hits.

The Dons defeated Westview 4-0 in a tournament semifinal earlier in the day.

The Dons improved their overall record for the season to 6-0.


Torrey Pines defeated Orange Glen 10-1 in a nonleague game on March 22.

The victory followed a 5-3 nonleague win against El Camino two days earlier.

Sydny Poh had three hits including two triples and three RBI to lead the Falcons offensively in the Orange Glen game.

Shelbianne Evans, Emily Wolking, Xstaviana Augur, Emily Wong and Kelsey Buchanan each added two hits.

Mikaila Reyes, who was credited with the win, allowed one run on four hits in four innings. She had four strikeouts and two walks.

Monroe Peed had three hits and two RBI and Buchanan had three hits and drove in a run to lead the Falcons in the El Camino game.

The Falcons improved their overall record for the season to 7-2.


Santa Fe Christian had its seven-game winning streak to start the season snapped as the Eagles lost to Oceanside 11-9 in a nonleague game on March 24.

The loss followed a 21-0 nonleague win against Tri-City Christian on March 18.

Baseball:

Santa Fe Christian defeated Calvary Christian 6-0 in a North County tournament game on March 24.

The victory followed a 6-0 win against San Diego in a Pirate-Falcon tournament game on March 18.

Cole Acosta pitched six innings of shutout ball for the win to lead the Eagles in the Calvary Christian game. He struck out 11 batters and allowed four hits and two walks.

Chase Bushor had three hits including a double and Dillon Paulson had two hits and two RBI to lead the Eagles offensively.

Paulson pitched six innings of shutout ball to lead the Eagles in San Diego game.

Bushor contributed two hits and one RBI.

The Eagles improved their overall record for the season to 4-3.


Cathedral Catholic defeated Mission Bay 5-2 in a City Conference tournament game on March 24.

The victory followed a strong finish in the Hilltop-Lolitas tournament in which the Dons won their last two games; 4-1 over Rancho Buena Vista on March 20 and 3-2 against La Costa Canyon on March 18.

Connor Lunn, who was credited with the victory in the Mission Bay game, struck out eight batters and allowed two runs (both unearned) on four hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Griffen Case pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Lunn for the save.

Andrew Wilson had two hits (both doubles) and two RBI and John Cresto had two hits and drove in a run to lead the Dons offensively.

Michael Kai had two hits and drove in a run to lead the Dons offensively in the Rancho Buena Vista game.
