Police reported a 67-year-old Pacific Beach woman was struck by a slow-moving truck while she was out for an early-morning walk Tuesday, June 8.
San Diego Police Sgt. Jeff Fellows said the accident occurred at 7:45 a.m. at Van Nuys Street and La Jolla Mesa Drive.
"She (victim) was out for her morning walk and she was in a marked crosswalk," said Fellows, "when a guy in a truck on Van Nuys, making a left onto La Jolla Mesa, was proceeding into the intersection turning left. He never noticed the pedestrian until he bumped into her and knocked her back. She fell back and struck her head."
Drugs and alcohol are not factors in the accident, Fellows said.
The woman's identity has not yet been released. She had no identification on her at the accident scene, other than a Petco card which police were able to use to trace her local address, which they said was on Cass Street.
