The Fairbanks Republican Women Federated celebrated their 15th anniversary with a fashion show and luncheon on April 3 at the Santa Luz Club.
"It's about supporting the causes and issues that are important to us in our political party and electing officials that represent those values," club president Linda Abrams, a six-year member, explained.
Over the years the group has played host to people like Newt Gingrich, John Ashcroft, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dr. Laura Schlessinger. They have also hosted a number of events to support military soldiers and their families. On April 22, they will head downtown to help new citizens register to vote.
The 124 women at the April 3 celebration were treated to outdoor shopping boutiques and cocktails before a Worth Collection fashion show and lunch under a tent.
Their next meeting will be held on April 17 at 6 p.m. with guest speaker Rich Lowry, editor of National Review. The cost is $45 for members and $50 for non-members (prices go up $5 after April 11). The event will be held at 5185 Rancho Quinta Bend.
