The 27 annual Vic Kop's Children's Challenge was held on May 13 at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. The award program recognized children from the Del Mar Union and Solana Beach school districts, grades 1 through 6.
Eleven young people were awarded for their accomplishments in community service, art, humanities, courage, fellowship and service.
The students recognized for their community service are: Katy Rodes of Del Mar Heights School, Melanie An of Ocean Air School, Braeden Abel of Solana Pacific School, Natasha Taylor of Carmel Del Mar School.
The students in the field of arts are: Lindsey Klein (Visual Arts) of Sage Canyon School, Michael Chen (Music) of Sage Canyon School and Lily Nilipour (Multi Arts) of Torrey Hills School.
In the field of courage, the recipient was Taylor Austin of Del mar Heights School.
In the field of science, the recipient was Alexandra Erdman of Carmel Del Mar School.
In the field of fellowship, the recipient was Leo Li of Ocean Air School.
In the field of Humanities, the recipient was Arthi Haripriyan of Sycamore Ridge School.
The Del Mar/Solana Beach Optimist Club sponsors this program. The program chairperson is Susan Pfleeger.
