Branch offices of the San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/Clerk in Chula Vista and Kearny Mesa will be closed next month because of budgetary constraints, it was announced Friday.
The closures will take effect on Monday, July 6, said David Butler, the county Assessor/Recorder/Clerk.
Operations at remaining offices in El Cajon, San Marcos and the downtown County Administration Building will be reduced an hour to 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Also, marriage licenses and civil ceremonies will be offered only with an appointment.
"These reductions in service levels are necessary to stay within budgetary limitations, and rest assured it is my intent to reopen these branches when the budget situation is improved,'' Butler said.
