Twenty-one suspected illegal immigrants who attempted to enter the country by water were arrested over the weekend in two separate incidents, a Border Patrol official said Monday.

U.S. Border Patrol agents spotted a 22-foot Cobalt boat with 13 occupants dock at the Oceanside Harbor Marine around 2 p.m. Sunday, said Border Patrol Agent Jose Morales.

Agents questioned the group and determined that they were all in the country illegally, he said.

Two men in the group were suspected of smuggling the men and women on the boat. There were six male and two female Mexican nationals who attempted to enter the country illegally. Agents also apprehended two females and one male from Bolivia, according to Morales.

Agents also apprehended another group of suspected illegal immigrants on Saturday afternoon who attempted to enter the country illegally via boat, Morales said.

Around 4 p.m., agents were patrolling the ocean close to the Mexico- United States border when they spotted an 18-foot Bayliner boat cross into the United States and stopped the vessel, he said.

Agents questioned the four people above the deck and became suspicious when they heard inconsistencies, Morales said.

Agents boarded the boat and discovered four additional people in the cabin below deck. The cabin was locked from the outside, according to Morales.

None of the eight occupants aboard the boat - two woman and six men - had documents to legally enter the country.

All were arrested and transported to a U.S. Border Patrol station for processing and U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized the vessels.
