The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell six-tenths of a cent Su day to $2.981, a day after being unchanged.
The average price is 2.4 cents less than a week ago and 5.1 cents less than a month ago, but 36.4 cents more than this time last year and $1.123 more than at the start of the year, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
Gas prices have stayed in a range within 20 cents of $3 a gallon for almost half of this year, and "it seems unlikely that we'll see a significant price drop outside of that range for the rest of the year," said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
