Kehoe raises concerns about proposed Del Mar Fairgrounds expansion

Sen. Christine Kehoe (D-San Diego) raised major concerns Monday about the proposed redevelopment of the Del Mar Fairgrounds, saying there is no demonstrated need for new convention space at that site and it leaves the State of California on the hook for any possible debts.

"What funding sources will pay back the bonds, and when will the convention center be profitable?" Kehoe asked in a letter to the 22nd District Agricultural Association, which manages the fairgrounds and is gathering public comments on the plan's environmental impact.
