The Del Mar Powerhouse Baseball Club 12 and Under team emerged as champions in the Pure Stats Sports Group fall tournament, played in Temecula, on Sept. 27 and 28.
Teams from throughout Southern California competed in the tournament. Powerhouse had to come from the lowest seed after losing two games on Saturday to win three games in a row on Sunday, including the championship game, which was played against the California Terminators from Temecula. The final score was 10-3.
Nine different players pitched for Powerhouse, with Christian Gange, Andy Archibald and CJ Stubbs combining for the win in the championship game.
"This was the first tournament we have played together as a team this year," said head coach Derek Ayres. "Our kids are coming together well as a team, and it's great to get an early win like this."
The team is comprised of players from Rancho Santa Fe, Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Solana Beach and Carlsbad.
