Shaun Phillips gives $7,000 to After-School All-Stars for 7 sacks

San Diego Chargers Linebacker Shaun Phillips presented a $7,000 check to the San Diego chapter of After-School All-Stars to wrap up another great season with SP's All-Star Sack Attack program on Thursday night during a Sports Illustrated mixer at the Pamplemousse Grille in Solana Beach.
Three years ago, Phillips pledged to donate $1,000 to After-School All-Stars for every sack he recorded in the National Football League (NFL) season. With seven sacks in the 2009 season, Phillips owed the program $7,000. In addition, three local companies have pledged to match his donation this year, bringing the total 2009 donation of "SP's All-Star Sack Attack" program to $28,000.
After-School All-Stars is a program dedicated to providing comprehensive after-school programs that keep kids safe while continuing to nurture their minds. Through programs that incorporate academic assistance, independent learning, enrichment activities and sports, kids benefit from increased confidence and success in all areas of their lives-at home, in school and in the community.
