CCA student among winners of 22nd Annual Signet Classics Essay Contest
Canyon Crest Academy 11th grade student Shawdi Sani was among the winners of the 22nd Annual Signet Classics Essay Contest hosted by Penguin Random House. This year’s winners were announced July 1.
The annual event is a contest in which five high school juniors or seniors (or home-schooled students aged 16-18) can each win a $1,000 scholarship award to be used toward their higher education plus a Signet Classics library for their school or public library. Shawdi, along with other contest entrants, wrote an essay on one of several topics related to the competition book “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl” by Harriet Jacobs.
The 23rd annual Signet Classics Student Scholarship Essay Contest was recently announced. Essays must be submitted by a high school English teacher (or a parent/legal guardian for home-schooled students) on behalf of students who write an essay on one of five topics for this year’s competition book, “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” The contest began July 1, and ends at 11:59 p.m. (EST) on April 15, 2019. All entries must be postmarked by April 15, 2019 and received on or by April 22, 2019.
