CCA runner takes first in Division 2, team places second
The girls varsity runners of Canyon Crest Academy’s cross country team finished second in the Division 2 race during CIF San Diego Finals. They ran 2.75 miles and competed against 16 high schools on Nov. 19 at Morley Field.
Kira Loren finished first in a time of 16.30.7, Claire Bernd in fourth place with 17.13, Carlie Dorostkar came in sixth in a time of 17.15.2, Corinne Chapkis ran 18.05.3 in 28th place, Naomi Smitham scored 32nd in a time of 18.18.2, Erin Beck came in 34th at 18.21.4, and Zoe Erturk was 74th in 19.25.3
The combined effort of the CCA varsity girls qualified them to run in the 2016 CIF State Cross Country Championships in Fresno on Nov. 26.
CCA’s sophomore Ares Reading advanced to the state meet as an individual by finishing 11th in a time of 16.37.6. He raced 3.04 miles in the Boys Division 2.
