Del Sol Lions present $45,000 donation to Freedom Dogs of San Diego

Del Sol Lions members celebrated their organization’s 8th anniversary and Mardis Gras at an event held Feb. 27 at the Fletcher Cove Community Center.

At the event, the group presented a $45,000 check to Freedom Dogs of San Diego, a nonprofit organization devoted to serving wounded members of the military who are attempting to return to civilian life. Along with their trainers, the organization’s “specialty service dogs provide both physical and emotional support, helping wounded warriors to successfully make this challenging transition,” according to the group’s website (freedomdogs.org).

The keynote speaker at the Del Sol event was Sharon Omahen, executive director of the Coastal Community Foundation.
