The Del Mar City Council recently announced that the City has once again received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA’s) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The award reflects the commitment of the City and its staff to meet the highest principles of governmental accounting. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was presented to Teresa S. McBroome, director of Finance/Treasurer, representing the City’s Finance Department, as being primarily responsible for preparing the CAFR. A copy of the City’s most recent CAFR (for Fiscal Year 2014/15, completed in January 2016) is available online at: www.delmar.ca.us/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/663
