2017 Gingerbread City Gala breaks fundraising records
The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County’s premier holiday gala, Gingerbread City, took place Nov. 28. Guests had the opportunity to view the gingerbread structures created in this year’s theme, Holiday Classics,” which were on display throughout the ballroom of the Fairmont Grand Del Mar.
Dr. Michael R. Cunningham, chancellor of National University System, rallied donors to raise the largest funds ever in the history of the Gingerbread City Gala, totaling over $400,000. The proceeds raised critical awareness and support for all of the free programs and services at the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County. “I want to thank everyone who helped make this the biggest and most successful Gingerbread City Gala fundraising effort ever,” he said. “It was such an honor to raise awareness about the incredible work being done by the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County on behalf of people who suffer from epilepsy and seizure disorders.”
The gala, founded by philanthropist Sally B. Thornton, featured savory delicacies prepared by Host Chef William Bradley of Addison Restaurant at The Grand Del Mar and celebrity chefs from San Diego’s premier restaurants, as well as world-renowned wines, a silent auction, and live performances.
