5th Annual Light Up A Life Event

The 5th Annual Light Up A Life fundraiser took place Dec. 11 under a gorgeous Del Mar sunset, along with Santa and the sounds of singer Chris Lomeli. For the past several years, Monica Nash, a local tech-savy Realtor, has hosted the event to support local at-risk youth for the San Diego Center for Children. Each year she teams up with local sponsors, including the Charitable Foundation and Carmel Valley Moms, to raise funds as well as collect presents to ensure each child receives a Christmas gift.

“The Light Up a Life Fundraiser began as a passion to help our local communities gather together to help kids who don’t receive a gift for the holidays,” said Nash. “I wanted to touch the children’s lives with giving a gift so they would in turn feel ‘cared for,’ loved and they had a community of people surrounding them. I know a gift isn’t everything, but it’s enough for a child, teenager to know we care!”

Event attendees dined on delicious bites from Il Fornaio, danced to the sounds of Chris Lomeli, and even got to visit with Santa. Attendees were encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for the children and at the event they collected more than 500 gifts to provide to the center.

“The San Diego Center for Children is thrilled to, once again, be the beneficiary of the Light Up A Life event,” said Kristi Worley, senior development manager at the San Diego Center for Children.”Monica Nash has been a strong supporter of the center for many years and through these important partnerships in the community, we can continue to provide the critical services and programs to children, teens and families struggling with mental, emotional or behavioral disorders, while adding some holiday joy to the season.”
