BocceFest San Diego combines Rotary’s 22nd Turf Bocce Tournament with San Diego Craft Beer

On Sept. 30, BocceFest San Diego (where bocce meets beer) will combine the fun and friendly competition of bocce with the pleasure of tasting exceptional San Diego craft beers at the Surf Cup Sports Park east of Del Mar.

This will be the 22nd year that Del Mar-Solana Beach Rotary has held its turf bocce ball tournament as a fundraiser for the many youth and humanitarian programs it supports. New this year, selected San Diego County craft beers will be available to sponsors, players, and spectators alike. Also, due to the expanded Sports Park space, independent teams are invited to participate in BocceFest for the first time in many years.

Bocce has been played for hundreds of years, especially in Europe. But, it has recently caught on more and more in the U.S. as restaurants and bars have built bocce courts for their patrons to enjoy. Bocce can be played by anyone, from first-time player to expert, from teenager to senior, and on many different playing surfaces. BocceFest’s courts will be on the well-trimmed grass soccer fields of the Surf Cup Sports Park east of Del Mar.

Sponsors, teams, friends and family are invited to join in on this special day of fun at BocceFest and, in doing so, help make the world a better place through their participation. See or contact Molly Fleming via for more information.
