May’s free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, May 9 at 7 p.m. in the library’s community room. It will feature pianist Kasey Kay as part of the 2018 Piano Series.
Kay has developed a stellar reputation and following for both technical brilliance and interpretive nuance and captures the passion and emotive sensitivity of the composers she admires. Her dazzling performances have delighted audiences throughout the county for more than 10 years.
Kay, formerly Kyungshil Ji, a native of Seoul, Korea, discovered her love of music from her very musical family. As early as junior high she was winning competitions and by the end of high school won the Beethoven competition which landed her a full scholarship at HanYang University, the most revered music university in Korea. Shortly after settling in San Diego, she began studying with Dr. Karen Follingstad, senior professor of performance for piano at SDSU.
The library is located at 3919 Townsgate Drive in Carmel Valley. For more information, call (858) 552-1668. --Submitted press release
