Friends of the Solana Beach Library recently announced they are now accepting scholarship applications. This year there will be three scholarships awarded in the amount of $2,000 each to graduating high school seniors or to continuing/returning students.
Applicants must live within the city limits of Solana Beach. Each scholarship is a one-time award to be used for continuing education at a community college, a four-year college or university, a graduate/professional school or a technical/vocational/career school in the United States.
Each applicant must have a San Diego County Library card, a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher for the three most recent years for which a GPA is available. Consideration will be given to GPA, participation in community activities, extracurricular activities, awards, recognitions and financial need.
The application for the 2018 Friends of the Solana Beach Scholarships can be downloaded as a PDF document from the Friends website (www.friendsofsolanabeachlibrary.org/scholarship).
Printed applications are available at the Solana Beach Library in a display at the book check-out table. Students must complete and submit the application form by April 30, 2018, along with an essay, completed permission form and two letters of recommendation. One letter should be from a teacher and the other from an adult who is not related to the student.
