Toastmasters International Speech Contest set for Saturday

Toastmasters International’s San Diego Coastal District Speech Contest is scheduled to take place Saturday, Oct. 29.

Contest speakers have previously qualified at their respective Toastmasters clubs and are now competing at a district level. The district area clubs represented are from the Del Mar, Encinitas and Rancho Santa Fe areas.

The morning starts at 8 a.m. with breakfast provided by Toastmasters Area Director Robert Perry. Rico’s Taco Shop will be catering. It’s a chance to socialize and learn more about the Toastmasters format and mission.

The speech contest begins at 9 a.m. This is followed by an evaluation time for each speaker, and concludes with a panel of judges announcing the winner.

Toastmasters is focused on helping individuals develop speaking and leadership skills within an encouraging and supportive environment. Since this is a fun group, costumes are encouraged, though not required.

The event costs $10. For more information, visit or the Meetup site at
