Carmel Valley ‘Pantry Kids’ host food drive Dec. 1-12
Several Carmel Valley youngsters — Lana Kabakibi, Leili Delorme, Rami Kabakibi and Maya Kabakibi — have started a nonprofit called “The Pantry Kids” to help fight hunger. According to Feeding America San Diego, 1 out of 4 kids struggles with hunger on a daily basis, which can affect school performance and academic success. In collaboration with FASD and San Diego Unified School District’s Office of Youth in Transition, the Pantry Kids are holding a canned food drive Dec. 1-12. Donated food will be distributed to more than 200 school pantries across San Diego. The “Kids” will drop off donation bags at each house in their neighborhood by Dec. 1 and will pick them up at the door or gate on Saturday, Dec. 13. Trader Joe’s generously donated 900 bags to support the “Kids.” Visit www.pantrykids.org.
