L’Auberge hosts opening day after-party Oct. 29 for Del Mar fall horse racing meet

L’Auberge Del Mar, A Destination Hotel, is hosting a swinging Fall Meet Opening Day After-Party from 5 p.m. to midnight Oct. 29. This event pays tribute to the excitement and glamour of 1930s Hollywood when crooner Bing Crosby founded Del Mar Racetrack with some of his celebrity buddies.

Guests will enjoy a winning evening of dancing, cocktails, bites and live entertainment throughout the hotel’s Living Room, Sunset Terrace, outdoor Bleu Bar and at a pop-up speakeasy in the Sapphire Room. In addition, Kitchen 1540 will offer a special prix-fixe dinner which includes entrance to the party. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1930’s garb

The culinary team will be serving bites on its Sunset Terrace along with passed hors d’oeuvres and desserts; Bleu Bar, as well as a pop-up speakeasy in the Sapphire Room, will be creating signature cocktails and featuring the L’Auberge Del Mar’s special “Mule’p” — a riff on the classic Moscow Mule.

Live 1930s swing and big band music will be performed in the Living Room. The hot band JP Hunten Music will swing the party from 5 to 9 p.m., and DJ Gabe Vega will bring the party vibe back to today from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Along with its customary menu, Kitchen 1540 will offer a special Opening Day Three-Course Prix Fixe Dinner for $129 per person, which includes free admission to the big party (reservations are required to 858-793-6460).
