Solana Beach Eagle Scout Project completed

Troop 782 Solana Beach Boy Scout Simeon Dong recently completed his Eagle Service Project at Seascape Sur beach access. The project entailed designing and building a Surfboard Towel rack installed by the showers.

Simeon noticed during Junior Lifeguards and surfing that there was no place to put surfboards, bags and towels when using the showers. To solve this problem, Simeon enlisted help from Troop 782 Committee, Trey Post (Troop 782 Assistant Scout Master), Dave Taylor (Eagle Scout counselor), Dan Goldberg (City of Solana Beach) and, Shari Kenyon (Seascape Sur HOA). Simeon created a proposal and completed the approval process with Troop 782 Committee, City of Solana Beach and the HOA.

On Aug. 26 construction and painting was initiated with the help of the following scouts and volunteers: Trey Post, Ben and John Resko, Chris Navarro, Franco Sims, Scott Shepard, Joe and Joseph Molitor, Mimi Villanueva and Myron Dong.

That evening, after the paint was dried, the surfboard rack was installed at Seascape Sur. It was gratifying to see people excited about the surfboard rack and begin using it. Thank you to everyone who helped in this fun project. Simeon hopes this rack will give beach goers a place to put their gear for years to come.
