There are three meetings per year at which Scouts officially receive their rank advancements, merit badges and other special awards. At this last meeting, 11 Scouts from Troop 713 advanced in rank.

The beginning rank a Scout works to achieve is called Second Class, and then First Class, Star and Life before the most advanced rank of Eagle. Upon finishing all requirements of a rank, the Scout must complete a Scoutmaster Conference and then a Board of Review before finally receiving his rank advancement.

Tyler Gonzales achieved both Second and First Class in 2014.
